We are living in an era of unprecedented challenges, and Chicago is no exception. Our city faces its own geopolitical and economic pressures, from persistent neighborhood disparities to the urgent need to maintain Chicago’s role as a global hub for trade and innovation. Meanwhile, the cost-of-living crisis is growing, leaving too many Chicagoans struggling to make ends meet. Passing a balanced budget has become more difficult, and our infrastructure—from our transit systems to our schools—shows signs of strain.
